2018 Iredell County Agricultural Fair

Friday, August 31st  - Saturday, September 8th

Department V - Poultry

  1. All poultry must be blood tested before they may be entered.  All untested birds will be test upon arrival.
  2. Poultry may be entered at the Poultry Building on Thursday, August 30 from 4-7pm, if space permits.  No entries received after Thursday at 7pm.
  3. Birds may be left at Show to be entered only if placed in designated coops by owners.
  4. All birds entered at the risk of the owners.  The Fair shall not be responsible for loss, injury, theft, damage by lightening, wind, fire, or any other act, but the management will exercise all possible vigilance in the care of exhibits at the the exhibit hall.
  5. The management will reserve the right to coop one or more birds of the same variety belonging to the same person together if absolutely necessary. In no case will two male birds be placed in the same coop.
  6. The American Standard of Perfection (revised edition) will be the guide of the judges in awarding premiums.
  7. The Iredell County Agricultural Fair will employ a competent judge & his decision will be final.  Protest will be entertained only when accompanied by a fee of $25.00, the fee to be forfeited unless protest is sustained by a majority of judging staff.
  8. Premiums only paid to worthy specimens.  No sick birds accepted, and will be checked regularly for disease, and may be removed if sick.
  9. Exhibits to be removed Tuesday, Sept 4, by 10:00am.
  10. The Fair will provide a person to feed the poultry and attend them during the week.
  11. The feed for the Poultry Show will be furnished by Bartlett Milling Company.
  12. Entries must be entered on official entry blank provided in back of catalogue or from website and mailed to Nancy Keith* PO Box 311*Statesville NC 28687
  13. Entries close on Friday, Aug. 24, a week before the opening of the fair.
  14. Mail your entry early.  The right is reserved to reject entries after all available space is take.

DEFINITION OF TERMS USED IN THE DEPARTMENT

  • COCK: Male bird one year old or older
  • HEN: Felmale bird one year old or older
  • COCKERAL: Male bird less than one year old
  • PULLETS: Female bird less than one year old

Department V – Poultry Eggs

1.)  It is particularly desired to make the Egg display interesting and attractive, as well as educational; the cooperation of all who produce eggs is desired. 


2.)  Eggs must be entered in the show by 1 PM Monday, opening day of the Iredell County Agricultural Fair. 


3.)  Each exhibitor will be limited to one dozen eggs in each lot. 


4.)  Display containers will be provided.
